Beyonce Makes Grammy History, Jay Z, Maxwell Top Winners List
Beyonce made history at Sunday's 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, winning the most awards ever, in one event, for a female artist !
Taking home a total of six awards, Beyonce's top honor was Song of the Year, a songwriters award for "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).
The hit single also earned Beyonce Grammys for R&B song and female vocal performance. Topping previously record setting wins for Alicia Keys, among others, Beyonce was additionally honored for contemporary R&B album with "I Am ... Sasha Fierce," traditional R&B vocal performance for her cover of "At Last" and female pop vocal performance with "Halo."
"This has been such an amazing night for me," said Beyonce when accepting Female Pop Vocal Performance. "I want to thank my family and that includes my Husband (Jay-Z)". Of course, her husband faired well alone.
Ending up with three Grammys overall, Jay-Z shared his honor for "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration" ("Run This Town") with Rihanna, who neither presented or performed during the night's broadcast.
Maxwell, Eminem, Jamie Foxx, Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, and Jason Mraz were also among the night's big winners, each picking up at least two awards.
