Pras Michel, a founding member of the ’90s group the Fugees, was found guilty of all 10 counts related to what prosecutors called a “clandestine foreign influence campaign scheme” funded by a wealthy Malaysian financier to peddle influence in the United States.

Michel had been charged in the failed conspiracy to help alleged fugitive Malaysian financier Low Taek Jho — also known as Jho Low — gain access to US officials, including former presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

“We are of course very disappointed, but I am very confident in the ultimate outcome of this case,” Michel’s lawyer, David Kenner, told reporters but added he’s “very confident that we will, with certainty, appeal this case. This is not over. I remain very, very confident that we will ultimately prevail in this matter.”

No sentencing date has been set.

The weeks-long trial saw witnesses like Leonardo DiCaprio testify for the prosecution.
