New Music Friday: Lil Baby kicks off 2025 with new album, ‘WHAM’

Written by on January 3, 2025

Lil Baby is starting off the year with the release of his new album, WHAM. Following 2022’s It’s Only Me, the project features guests GloRilla, Rod Wave, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Rylo Rodriguez, Future and Young Thug, whose verse on “Dum, Dumb and Dumber” has already made headlines.

“Yeah, n****, King Spider back I don’t even believe I was locked up, for real, for real,” Thugger says on the track’s interlude, referencing his two-year stint in prison on a RICO case. “I was havin’ my way the whole time, fool, you know what I’m sayin?'”

Thug has since clarified the lyric “These U.S. b****** kinda bad,” explaining that he used the term “bad” in a positive way. “When I said these U.S b****** kinda bad I meant ‘bad girls’ not ugly girls.. we got the prettiest girls on earth,” he wrote on social platform X.

“Dum, Dumb and Dumber” includes Thug’s first verse since he accepted a plea deal and was released in October. It’s one of 15 songs on WHAM, which stands for Who Hard As Me.

Lil Baby’s album also includes the song “F U 2x,” complete with a music video that dropped in honor of release day.

While Lil Baby’s release is the biggest, Snoop Dogg hosts a new Death Row album featuring a blend of different sounds and genres. On the compilation project are Charlie Bereal, Jenn Em, Point 5ve, Danny Boy, King George, Tha Engineers, Butch Cassidy and more.

Boldy James of Griselda also dropped a new project with producer RichGains. It’s titled Murder During Drug Traffic and features lead single “Achilles.”
