Jay-Z has once again come out victorious in his case against fragrance company Parlux. Billboard reports a New York state appeals court has upheld a 2021 verdict that cleared the star of allegations he breached an endorsement deal for a Gold Jay-Z cologne brand and owed $67 million in damages.

“There were multiple rational bases for upholding the jury verdict, and plaintiffs have not set forth a sufficient basis … to overturn it,” the five-judge panel ruled. The decision also confirmed last year’s ruling that Jay was owed nearly $7 million in unpaid royalties.

Jay, born Shawn Carter, launched his Gold Jay-Z cologne in 2012 via his partnership with Parlux, which in 2016 claimed he breached his contract by improperly promoting the brand. In a countersuit, Jay claimed he’d carried out his obligations and was still owed money by the company; jurors sided with him following a three-week trial in 2021. It was later determined Parlux owed Hov $6.78 million in unpaid royalties plus interest.

Parlux still has the option to take the case to the Court of Appeals.
