A mural in LA suburb Bellflower that honors notable celebrities in LA culture, including Kobe BryantSnoop Dogg and 2Pac, could soon be taken down, ABC7 reports.

The mural’s artist, Louie Palsino, says he was notified by the city that he must take the art down, so he’s created an online petition in hopes of keeping it up.

“At Speedy Auto Tint we are proud of our mural because we are a Latino/ family-owned small business, and we believe this mural represents the city of Los Angeles and the culture it embodies,” a summary of the petition reads. It’s gained over 4,000 signatures as of Friday, April 28.

“I’m trying to put out beauty here for the city of Bellflower and I’m trying to put out great work,” said Palsino. “Bellflower, they don’t have many things like this so I’m just trying to bless them with something really awesome, for the city, for people to come and appreciate.”

Oscar De La Hoya has said he will “make some calls.” He’s depicted in the mural, which Bellflower Mayor Sonny R. Santa Ines said “does not comply with the established mural standards in the Municipal Code.”

“We have received complaints about that fact,” said the mayor. “Our staff is engaged with the owner of the business and we are actively seeking an appropriate solution.”
