Nigerian singer Tems‘ songwriting credits include collaborations with Drake, Khalid and Rihanna. She and Rih worked on Wakanda Forever‘s “Lift Me Up,” which was up for Best Original Song at the 95th annual Academy Awards Sunday night.
On the event’s red carpet, Tems talked about her experience working with Rih. She told ABC News, “It’s incredible, I mean it’s Rihanna, so it’s an honor and a pleasure.”
“She’s, like, such a huge icon, such a huge mogul, she’s an inspiration to everyone,” she continued, “and I think if you get to work with her, that’s, like, you’ve got it.”
Rihanna took the Oscars stage and performed a live rendition of “Lift Me Up.” The song earned Tems and Rih their first Oscars nomination, but lost to RRR‘s “Naatu Naatu.”
